Name: Connor Sprague

Hometown: Green Bay, WI

School: University of Wisconsin-Madison

Major: Mechanical Engineering

MS Year: MS III

Connor Sprague grew up in Green Bay, WI and is by birth a big Packers and Badgers fan. He attended Notre Dame Academy, a Catholic high school, and was involved with football and music. Connor has an older brother and a younger sister. At UW-Madison, Connor is a Junior studying Mechanical Engineering, German, and International Engineering. He is also a trumpet player in the UW Marching Band and had the opportunity to travel with the band in 2010 to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. Connor leads a busy life, but maintains that "while Army ROTC is a huge part of my life, and a large time commitment, there is still more than enough time to be a college student. Take every opportunity you can get to enhance the short time you will be in school."

CDT Sprague first started considering ROTC near the end of high school. He had always been curious about the military and had family in the Army, but says "the tuition scholarship was also a huge draw." While CDT Sprague admits that ROTC is a lot of work, he says that the great people in the program and the unique opportunities make it well worth it. In the summer of 2011 he had the opportunity to travel to Fort Knox, KY to attend the US Army Air Assault School. There CDT Sprague learned skills necessary to work with rotary winged aircraft, rappel from a UH-60 Blackhawk and many other skills from the 101st Airborne. "Air Assault School was a valuable experience that exposed me to parts of the army that I did not know about," says CDT Sprague.

When not participating in the many opportunities that Army ROTC offers, CDT Sprague enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and being outdoors.

Fun Fact about CDT Sprague: While CDT Sprague is the only person on campus in both Army ROTC and the UW Marching Band, in 1885, when the band was formed, participation in Army ROTC was mandatory to play in the marching band.
