Major Josephine A. Daniels currently serves as the Recruiting and Operations Officer at UW Madison Army ROTC. She resides in Portage, WI with her husband and two daughters.

MAJ Daniels graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1990 and earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude), Economics Major, from Midwestern State University, Texas in 2002. She is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute (Russian Language) 1992, the Military Intelligence Electronic Warfare Analyst course 1992, Primary Leadership Development Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate) 1993, Basic Non-Commisisoned Officer Course 1996, Officer Candidate School 2001, Engineer Officer Basic Course 2003, the Sapper Leader Course 2006 and the Engineer Captain’s Career Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate).

MAJ Daniels began her military career as an Army Reservist in July 1990. During Desert Storm she enlisted into the Active Army. She served for 8 years as a Signals Intelligence Analyst/Russian Linguist assigned to: D. Co 201st Military Intelligence Battalion (Ft. Gordon, GA), 750th Military Intelligence Detachment (Misawa Air Base, Japan), and 344th Military Intelligence Co. (Goodfellow Air Force Base, TX). Special duty assignments include Diplomatic Courier for the Department of State (Finland & Russia) and Intelligence Analyst Instructor for Advanced Individual Training.

For the past 9 years, MAJ Daniels has served with the Army National Guard in Wisconsin. Her first assignment in Wisconsin was with the 264th Engineer Group and served a 6 month tour as the Full-time ESGR support officer within the Recruiting Command. During her Engineer Officer Basic Course, she volunteered to serve as a Platoon Leader (3rd PLT) with the 229th Engineer Company (Combat Support Equipment). From May 2003-March 2004, she was deployed with the 229th to Tikrit, Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom I. From October 2004 to August 2008, MAJ Daniels held the position of Executive/Budget Officer for the Recruiting and Retention Command. She concurrently served as Commander of Company A, Recruit Sustainment Battalion Stevens Point, WI establishing one of five new companies in Wisconsin, April 05-April 06. In May 2006, she was selected to command Company B/724th Engineer Battalion during the unit's transformation to a Clearance Company. Upon accepting command, she volunteered to attend the Sapper Leader Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. She graduated from the course as the 1st female in the Army National Guard and 13th female in the Army to earn the tab. MAJ Daniels received the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award for her efforts in 2006. She was presented the Award by the Army Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Casey, at the Pentagon on 16 May 2007 and was received by the President of the United States George W. Bush in the Oval Office on 18 May 2007 where he awarded her a 'Commander-In-Chief' Coin.

MAJ Daniels' military awards include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), among others.
