Sergeant First Class Kevin L. Houser is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1990 and attended OSUT at Fort Mcclellan, AL with a primary MOS of 95B Military Police Officer. Sergeant First Class Houser also attended OSUT Training at Fort Knox, KY with an assigned MOS of 19D Cavalry Scout.

SFC Houser has served in a wide variety of leadership assignments including Military Police Operations Officer, Branch Chief/ Senior Small group Instructor for the 19D BNCOC, Platoon Sergeant and Assistant Squadron Operations Sergeant. His most recent assignment was as the S-3 Assistant OPS NCO in the 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment (2-2 ID).

His assignments include tours in Fort Carson, CO with the 984th MP CO; Heidelberg, GE in the 529th MP CO/ USAREUR Headquarters; WSMR MP CO in White Sands Missile Range, NM; Fort Lewis, Washington in the 2nd Infantry Division; Fort Polk, LA in the 2nd ACR; Fort Knox, KY in the NCOA. SFC Houser's most recent assignment was with 5-4 Cavalry (2-2 ID) at Fort Riley, KS. His combat deployments include service in Operation Desert Storm (1991), Operation Enduring Freedom (Djibouti, Africa (2002)) and two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Baghdad (2003-2004) and (2008-2009).

SFC Houser's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal 1OLC, the Army Commendation Medal 6 OLC, the Army Achievement Medal 1OLC , the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Presidential Unit Award. He is also a member of the Honorable Order of St. George. His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, and the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course.
