Edgewood College

The College

Edgewood College is just west of the main campus of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, just minutes from the heart of downtown. A private, liberal arts college based on the Catholic-Dominican tradition, Edgewood college strives to teach students to discover the truths of the world by partnering with the community and renowned professors.

ROTC at Edgewood

With a small campus and being within a few miles of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Edgewood college does not hold ROTC classes at their campus. Instead, through a partnership with UW - Madison, students wishing to engage in ROTC at Edgewood College take their Military Science classes on the UW - Madison campus, to include a once or twice weekly lecture and a once weekly lab. Students are also required to participate in weekly physical training sessions held at the Shell ont he UW - Madison campus. Students shouldn't be discouraged by the distance as the large size of the UW - Madison and Edgewood programs will generally accomodate younger students who may not have access to transportation of their own.

Students can expect to be challenged by a number of different exercises as an ROTC Cadet. Besides the weekly physical trianing and classes, ROTC offers the ability for cadets to engage in any number of additional activities. Cadets conduct 2 overnight field training exercises (FTXs) each year at Ft. McCoy in Sparta WI. Additionaly, the schools of the Badger Battalion compete in the Ranger Challenger, designed to challenge cadets in individual and team events to build skills and teamwork. Cadets are also encouraged to compete for the German Armed Forces Badge, a task requiring the completion of a number of events including pistol shooting, running, swimming, the long jump and the shot put. There are also opportunities to participate in the Color Guard as well as the Homecoming Parade.
